The Portsmouth Square Garage is located in the heart of San Francisco's famous
and vibrant Chinatown. The garage has been managed by the Portsmouth Plaza Parking Corporation,
serving the City's residents, visitors and businesses for more than forty years.
This 500 space garage is comprised of four parking levels beneath the Portsmouth Square Plaza,
a community recreation park.|
The Garage is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. The facility currently provides additional valet
parking service during peak hours, and together with the regular self-parking, the garage
accommodates an average of 50,000 transient vehicles per month. The Portsmouth Square Garage
also offers many other parking programs and services in support of our community and local businesses.
Additional amenities include enclosed bicycle parking where bicyclists may secure their bikes at no charge,
as well as electric vehicle charging stations to accommodate alternative fuel vehicles and
to support the City's Clean Air Program.
Portsmouth Square is considered the living center of Chinatown and arguably the most
significant historical site in San Francisco. In the 1830's it was the plaza of a
Mexican pueblo, when San Francisco was known as Yerba Buena. Today, Portsmouth Square
remains the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown, with the newly renovated community
recreation park where residents of all ages gather for Chinese chess games, tai chi rituals, community
events and celebrations.|
